Citywide broadband wireless networks and applications are fast emerging as an effective way for local governments to better manage their communities while fostering economic development and bridging the digital divide. The Wireless Internet Institute (W2i) estimates that local governments in the United States stand to save in excess of $15 billion annual workforce productivity gains and lower operational cost by deploying a broadband wireless infrastructure.
