WITC April Monthly Meeting - XML

XML (Extensible Markup Language) is now viewed as the standard way information will be exchanged between environments that do not share common platforms. Since it is an open and not proprietary form of communication, XML can allow anyone to view information at any time. Join us as we investigate the newest advances in XML, its benefits and drawbacks. We will also touch on XML in its different forms and how they can help your organization. Federal Brand L. Niemann - Computer Scientist and XML and Web Services Specialist, Office of Environmental Information Mr. Niemann received his Ph.D. in Meteorology and Air Pollution Science from the University of Utah and has been with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for 22 years and is currently a Computer Scientist and XML and Web Services Specialist in the Office of Environmental Information. He has received awards and recognitions for his work from the U.S. EPA, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the US Geological Survey, LOTUS, and ComputerWorld-Smithsonian. Academia Todd A. Gibson - Honorarium Faculty, University of Colorado at Denver Mr. Gibson has over 12 years of experience in software development, project management, and instructional design and delivery. Todd has been teaching as honorarium faculty for both the Computer Science Department and School of Education of the University of Colorado at Denver since 1994 and is currently teaching an online XML course. Industry Terry Wise - VP Sales and Business Development, Forum Systems, Inc. Prior to joining Forum Systems, Terry was co-founder and Sales/Operations Director of C-bridge Internet Solutions (IPO - 1999). Terry adds over 10 years of Systems Integration and Software Development experience gathered from companies such as Cambridge Technology Group, Cambridge Technology Enterprises and OneWave Inc. Terry has a strong history with technology start-ups where he has overseen sales, marketing, business development and operations. Terry holds a B.A. in History from Middlebury College. A continental breakfast will be served.
